Of over 5,000 images, the Vietnam Collection is an ongoing project to catalogue alternate histories and (con)texts.
Since 2011, collector and artist Bradley Foisset has embarked on archiving Vietnam war negatives. Once examined, images are consistently selected, digitized, and classified. Today it encompasses over 5,000 anonymous photographs spanning the period from 1955 to 1973, The archive is envisioned as a site for the analysis of places, instruments and content capacity traditionally related to historical studies to reactivate and diagram the futures contained within the seeds of the past. In an effort to approach personal histories, phobias of the digital vortex, and address the phantasm that paralyses the future in increasing retreat from the present. |
